What You'll Learn
In the 1950s, Viktor Frankl referred to an existential vacuum,
a sense of emptiness that haunts so many people. This loss
of interest in what life has to offer, this inability to experience
life as meaningful, is even more prevalent today, and it is
impacting our schools, our businesses, our everyday lives.
What can we do to find more meaning in our own lives? How
can we help our own children, our employees, and students
of all ages find a deeper sense of purpose? In this workshop
Tal Ben Shahar will address the current situation and then
provide practical tools that can help in coming up with a
purpose in life, and then living it.
Relying on research and practice from Appreciative Inquiry,
Self Determination Theory, and Positive Psychology, Tal will
outline a four step process that includes:
Remembering our Positive Past
Imagining a Fantastic Future
Grounding with Concrete Commitments
Realizing with Authentic Action
In the workshop, participants will generate self-concordant
goals, identify their core values and personal strengths, as
well as come up with a list of rituals that can help them lead
more meaningful lives.
