Venerable Yeshe Khadro | Director Karuna Hospice, Brisbane | Australia
Yeshe Khadro grew up in rural Queensland, trained as a nurse at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane and then spent several years in Nepal studying Tibetan Buddhism. In 1974 she was ordained as a Buddhist nun by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. For the past 15 years, Yeshe has been the director of Karuna Hospice Service which is based in Brisbane. Karuna combines the wisdom of the Buddhist tradition with evidence-based best practice to provide holistic support and education for people in relation to end of life. In serving the community Karuna strives to follow the inspirational ideals and examples set by His Holiness the Dalai, Karuna's Spiritual Patron, whose own lifelong mission is to service others with universal compassion and kindness.
