Lifeline

For almost 50 years, Lifeline has been providing mental health crisis support services to the people of Australia. Lifeline is a non-denominational not-for-profit organisation that delivers a range of national and local services, working to assist people in great need, while also promoting emotional wellbeing, help-seeking and suicide prevention in our community. Lifeline's flagship service is its 24-hour crisis line, answering around 450,000 calls each year, from over 40 locations across the country. Staffed mostly by volunteers, this telephone service is at the coal-face of suicide prevention and crisis intervention. In addition, Lifeline provides a range of other services throughout the community, from low cost goods to face-to-face support.
