What lessons from school do we want our children to remember as adults?
Do we want them to remember only how to score well in standardised tests, including NAPLAN and the Higher School Certificate?
Or would we rather our children become engaged, curious, open-minded, strategic, reflective, inquisitive and metacognitive thinkers, who take responsibility for their own learning? Young people equipped with the thinking skills and dispositions to thrive in an age where facts are free and where it is what we do with knowledge that truly counts.
For the past five years, Masada College has worked hard to develop a Culture of Thinking, an environment in which thinking is valued, visible, and actively promoted as part of the day-to-day experience of students and teachers alike.
In this workshop, Simon Brooks and David Cook will explore the benefits of establishing a Culture of Thinking from K-12, sharing practical examples of what a Culture of Thinking looks like in practice.
