THE POWER OF EQUANIMITY FOR PAIN REDUCTION
Recent neurological research shows that chronic pain is largely learned. Mindfulness meditation programs have been used successfully to teach people a way of unlearning their unhelpful relationship to pain and decreasing pain related distress. However not all chronic pain sufferers are able to undergo a mindfulness meditation program and maintain a daily practice. Hear how a pilot study using a 4-minute mindfulness-based exposure task, routinely used in Mindfulness-integrated Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (MiCBT), resulted in immediate and lasting pain reduction.
